Liverpool will go head-to-head with Manchester United and Arsenal for the signature of Paris St Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to the Express.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in another top class striker in January, and has been linked with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid.

Cavani is reportedly unhappy in the French capital, where he has often been used out wide in a 4-3-3 formation to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a central striker.

The Uruguayan is keen to move to a club where he will be used in his favoured position down the middle, and that is something Brendan Rodgers can offer.

The Reds have struggled for goals this season, with summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert scoring just one goal between them in all competitions, whilst Daniel Sturridge has missed the last seven matches with a thigh strain.
