Liverpool will look to sign Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas, should a move for former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes fail to materialise, according to the Express.
Liverpool are said to be in talks with Valdes over a switch to Anfield, with the Spaniard set to join on a trial basis to prove his fitness.
Valdes is a free agent having seen his contract expire at the Nou Camp in the summer, and is yet to sign for a club having sustained a horrific injury last season.
But should he prove his fitness to Brendan Rodgers, then he looks set to sign until the end of the season with an option of an extension.
With the Reds having lost out on the signing of Loic Remy in the summer due to reported medical issues, Brendan Rodgers has looked to identify an alternative, with Casillas the choice.
The 33-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu in recent years, and looks set to lose his first team spot to summer signing Keylor Navas.
Should Valdes fail to prove his fitness, Rodgers will look to sign the Spain captain on loan in January.
