Daniel Sturridge is close to signing a new long term contract at Liverpool, according to widespread reports.
The 25-year-old is set to sign a deal that could be worth up to £150,000 a week, making him one of the highest paid players at the club.
Sturridge enjoyed a superb 2013-14 campaign, firing 24 goals in all competitions as the Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.
He has hit one goal in three matches this season, and has been sorely missed during the last six games having picked up a thigh injury whilst on international duty.
Liverpool now offer contracts based on performance levels, and the deal is seen as a reward for the player who has netted 36 goals in just 52 games since joining for £12million from Chelsea in January 2013.
Talks began with Sturridge and his representatives at the end of last season, with the forward close to signing the deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2019.
