Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow, with news that Spanish playmaker Suso has been ruled out of action for two months with a groin injury.

The 20-year-old scored his first Liverpool goal in the Capital One Cup win over Middlesbrough last week, and was a part of the squad for Saturday’s Merseyside derby draw with Everton.

He travelled with the squad for Wednesday night’s dismal Champions League defeat to Basel, but didn’t make the bench.

And now it has emerged the Spaniard will join the likes of Joe Allen, Emre Can, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson, Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan on the injury list, as he will have to undergo surgery on the problem.

“Just to tell you I’ll be out of the team for a couple of months,” Suso said.

“I’m having surgery next week because of my groins. I’ll be back soon. Stronger than ever. YNWA.”
