Liverpool will be without right back Jon Flanagan for ‘a few months’ according to Brendan Rodgers.
The homegrown full back was one of the stars of last season, and became a cult figure amongst supporters – providing him with nicknames such as Flani Alves and ‘the Red Cafu’.
He is yet to make an appearance this season, and Brendan Rodgers has strengthened his full back options with the signings of Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno.
“Young Jon Flanagan, unfortunately, has just had an operation that will probably have him out for a few months – which is disappointing,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood.
There was positive news however on the injury front, with the boss also offering updates on the fitness of Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson, Joe Allen and Daniel Sturridge.
The Northern Irishman added: “Martin Skrtel is back training with the team, which is great news for us. Glen Johnson should be back training over the course of the weekend.
“Daniel Sturridge should hopefully be back training at some point next week. Joe Allen is still out and he’ll be out for a few weeks yet.”
