Brendan Rodgers has dismissed suggestions Mario Balotelli was involved in an incident with a Wolves player during a behind-closed-doors friendly earlier in the week, reports the Daily Star.
Twitter went into overdrive with rumours that the Italian forward had stamped on the head of Wolves defender George Saville in the training match at Melwood, however Rodgers was quick to dismiss the suggestions as false rumours.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the boss said: “It is a story which was made up. The guy did absolutely nothing wrong.
“We played a game here and Mario fell over, tackled by the young lad George Saville, and George gets up and rubs his head and the next time I see it is reported Mario kicked him in the head.
“There was no incident at all and Mario has been as good as gold since he came in.
“It doesn’t impact negatively, we just move on.”
Balotelli is set to make his Anfield debut against Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
