Kolo Toure has rejected the opportunity to move to Trabzonspor, after holding talks with manager Brendan Rodgers, reports the Daily Star.

The 33-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, following the arrival of £20million Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

Toure had agreed personal terms with the Turkish club over a £1.5million switch, but has since announced he will be staying with Liverpool for the 2014-15 season.

He told Sport Ivoire: “I am still at Liverpool. I had talks with the coach who clearly indicated that I was part of his plans.

“Trabzonspor are interested in me, but I have expressed my pleasure at being a Liverpool player.

“However, the situation can change at any time, but for the moment I am at Liverpool and I want to carry on with the club.”

Toure joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City 12 months ago, and managed 20 appearances as the Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season.

With Toure now seemingly staying, which defender do you think will depart before the close of the transfer window? Let us know your thoughts below.
