Atletico Madrid have joined the race for Borussia Dortmund star and Liverpool target Marco Reus, according to the Express.

The German star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga giants this summer, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all said to be pursuing his signature.

Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich had also been linked with a move for the 25-year-old attacker, but Dortmund remain reluctant to sell to their top rivals having already lost Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to Pep Guardiola’s side in recent times.

Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that Reus’ buyout clause will drop from £28million to just £20million next summer, with the Premier League trio keen to make a move for him before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

The Reds already face a battle to land Reus, and will not welcome the news that La Liga Champions Atletico have now joined the hunt.

Spanish newspaper AS claim Diego Simeone has money to spend having sold the likes of Diego Costa and Felipe Luis this summer, and sees Reus as the man to link up with new signings Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann.
