Liverpool have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno, according to the Daily Star.

Recent reports from Spain had claimed the Reds were on the brink of a deal after agreeing a fee for the 21-year-old.

But Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has rubbished claims Moreno is on his way, and expects him to feature in the Super Cup final clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

He said: “He’s training very well and preparing for a big game for Sevilla, and no more than that.

“There is a club that do or have wanted him, but today we think that he will stay at Sevilla and play in the final in Cardiff.”

Liverpool confirmed the signing of another Spanish full back earlier today, signing Javier Manquillo on a two year loan deal from Atletico Madrid.

The 20-year-old becomes Brendan Rodgers seventh signing of the summer, having completed deals for Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi so far.

Is it time to give up on Moreno? We have been chasing him all summer and had no luck. Let us know your thoughts below.

Seen alot of La Liga last season and ths guy impressed more times than not. And when you consider what Utd paid for Shaw?
In my opinion we should just pay the asking price and get him signed.

I am really kind of at a loss to what is holding this up now? I thought that the deal has been resurrected and was very close to completion. This is a position which desperately needs attention. It needed help before the transfer period opened. That was painfully obvious. If it cannot be completed and completed very quickly, Liverpool needs to turn their attention to their other left back target Rojo. That’s if he is still available.
