Liverpool have suffered a setback in their pursuit of German international forward Marco Reus, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old is thought to be the man Brendan Rodgers has earmarked as the club’s marquee signing of the summer, having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75million last month.

But Borussia Dortmund remain reluctant to sell, and have once again come out to say they expect Reus to stay at the Westfalonstadion this summer.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke explained: “We have said many times this summer that Reus will not leave. Marco will play with us next season.

“There is no possibility that he will play elsewhere. We will try to tie him to our club for longer and we are proceeding with peace of mind that he will renew his deal.”

Reus is understood to have turned down the offer of a new contract at Dortmund, whilst both Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also been linked.

Can you see Marco Reus ending up at Anfield this summer? Or should we look to focus on other targets? Let us know your thoughts below.
