Liverpool have turned down an official bid for Kolo Toure from Turkish club Trabzonspor, according to Sky Sports.

Similarly to Daniel Agger, Toure has seen his future at the club come under threat following the arrival of £20million defender Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

But the fact Rodgers has turned down an official bid for the former City man, suggests Toure won’t be the defender on his way out of Anfield this summer.

With Lovren, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure already on the books, it looks as though Daniel Agger could be the defender to make way, with Barcelona said to be readying a £12million bid.

The 33-year-old has one year left on his contract at Anfield, after joining the club on a free transfer last season.

He managed 15 starts for the Reds last season, and Rodgers recently had words of praise for the leadership Toure brings to the squad.

“Kolo has been an incredible player. We brought him in because he is a winner, an authentic winner,” said Rodgers, talking at a news conference on Liverpool’s pre-season trip to the United States.

“He’s someone who doesn’t play every single week but when he does play, he plays very well. Every day of his life in training, he gives his all.

“Players like Kolo and Steven Gerrard, the older statesmen of the team, have been absolutely first class. We’re hungry and ambitious; we went close last year.

“That inspires us and gives us great motivation to go on this year. That is the beauty of this group of players – it’s a very hungry group because that’s what we’re trying to bring in.”

Does the fact Toure is staying suggest that Daniel Agger will be moving on this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.

Nice bloke Kolo but he is just too unreliable. He looks like making a mistake every time the ball goes near
him. Rodgers must really have a thing against Agger to prefer Toure to him. It must be that he wants to remove all trace of Rafa’s devotees what with Reina being given the cold shoulder.

Frankie…you say must really have a thing against Agger…he wants to remove all trace of Rafa’s devotees…..I suggest you are overlooking a few tiny details…

Agger is pants! Poor defender, weak in the tackle, out-jumped for headers, whines and whinges, falls over and tries to win the foul instead of dealing with the ball, injury prone, poor defensive positioning, awful at man to man marking in set pieces …I could go on.

Even if Agger gets an amputation on his favourite left foot, what will be left of him will be a hundred times better than toure. That guy (toure) and victor moses can single handedly send liverpool to the second divission if they last here for two more seasons

well I wasn’t aware that Moses played for Liverpool anymore and Toure will probably feature in no more than 6-8 matches this season. You don’t sound like you have much of a clue about football,,,did you start watching us last season or something?

Oh…and Agger is only capable of standing on his right foot…..when he stays on his feet of course.
