Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Vila in the past. But it has emerged that M’Villa was advised not to join Liverpool during the January transfer window by his current manager Ribat Bilyaletdinov.

Bilyaletdinov told France Football: “He has to prove his value and work like everyone else. I don’t mean that he doesn’t work, but we can see that he misses France.

“In January M’Vila behaved badly – one day he trained, one day he didn’t.

“Maybe his agents had promised him something. He thought he was already in Liverpool.

“I told him: ‘It is not your level. If you go, you will be on the bench’. He was very disappointed.

“Now I haven’t seen him for a while. I have been told he is in France to cure an injury. Even if he is back to full fitness, I don’t know where to play him.”

It sounds like M’Vila already had his eye set on a move to Liverpool in January especially with speculation being rife following his visit to Liverpool to watch the Merseyside Derby.

A player like M’Vila could just be what the Reds need next season to bolster our squad and strengthen our central midfield. Currently we have Gerrard and Lucas who can fill in the defensive midfield roles but adding a player of M’Vila’s qualities would take us to another level.

M’Vila may have a checkered disciplinary past with his former clubs but he is still on 23-years old and has bags of talent. I feel he just need to join the right time and have the right manager and he could be a hit.

If Rubin Kazan opt to sell M’Vila this summer then I would expect Brendan Rodgers to be amongst the clubs bidding for his talents.

It really does annoy me when you suggest he would
make a good back-up for Lucas , Lucas needs moving out he is not & never will be good enough for where we want to be .The only real quality midfielder we have is Stevie .
