Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for Porto’s defensive midfielder Fernando with reports suggesting that the Reds had a representative watching him on Sunday as Porto went 2-0 down to Benfica.
Fernando has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past with Manchester United being admirers of the 26-year old.
His contract ends in the summer so Liverpool could wait until then to sign him for free or try negotiate a few with Porto to sign him in the January window.
With Steven Gerrard playing as a defensive midfielder against Stoke on Sunday, it will be interesting to see if Brendan Rodgers sticks with the Liverpool captain in that role if he is able to sign a specialist defensive midfielder like Fernando.
