We are edging close to the middle of the January transfer window and Liverpool have still not made a signing. The Reds have been linked with a move for Basel star Mohamed Salah but that deal seems to be dragging on. Brendan Rodgers has given us an update on how he sees the window panning out.

“I’ll be confident over the next few windows,” Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. “You saw last January we were fully prepared for what we needed and we got that business done early.

“We are fully prepared this time also. A lot of great work has gone in to prepare for this January window but it all boils down to the availability of the players.

“Where we’re at this January as opposed to last January is that the team has evolved and grown and developed. It’s a different team to what it was last January.

“Now there is greater demand on the types of players that we want to bring in. They have to be available first and foremost.

“If the right player is available not just for now but for the future we will look to do that. If not, we may have to go with what we’ve got for the rest of this season and reassess in the summer.”

This window seems to be very difficult for many clubs, no big deals have been done yet. As Rodgers has stated, it will not be an easy window to get the right players in and we may actually not sign anyone this January.

It would be a shame if Liverpool are not able to add a player or two this window and help the squad push for a top four finish. Signing a player like Salah would give everyone at the club a huge lift as we would be getting a quality player who is able o make an immediate impact on the first team.

In My opinion, BR should sign 1 player only for this window… Liverpool need Juan Mata … Chelsea will Discount and let he go, if Mata want come to LFC tht really a great signing…

Lfc needs 3-4 new signings a left mid a strike and a lb and maybe a new rb cuz johnson not performing…we need more depth,if we dnt sign players n mke cl suarez will leave, and so would many other lfc players don’t be stupid rodgers bring in some talent and not unproven flops plz, rodgers is a good manager but if he doesn’t bring in some quality it could be a big blow for lfc’s lc hopes

Juz get Salah in dis window……
Can’t understand y we r haggling over his price as he is sheer quality and will add immediate impact. Forget d Ukranian winger……

  4. I too agree with this article. Looks like nobody want to join Liverpool this time around. Perhaps Liverpool should consider letting the young players a run on the games.

I reckon FSG are not happy with the way Rodgers has spent the 100m he has been given , add to this paying Moses & Cissokho 160k per week ,when neither are worth half this . But if Rodgers was half has good has he makes out he could bring in a R/B , a D/M & a striker just by getting rid of deadwood . Without getting rid of the rubbish & not bringing in quality we will not get 4th spot , do not be fooled by a very unimpressive victory at Stoke .
