The standout candidate is Simon Mignolet. The big Belgian stopper has been nothing short of outstanding since he arrived at Anfield. Any doubters were silenced almost immediately after the keeper save a penalty on his debut at Anfield and by my reckoning has probably earned Liverpool around 10 points so far with the saves he has made. The winning goals at City and Chelsea away being the only blemish on his immaculate record so far but even then, advocates of Mignolet’s undoubted ability will point to the same games in which he also made some crucial and fantastic saves which kept us in the game. An honourable mention goes to Kolo Toure who was probably man of the match in all 3 of the Red’s first games but who has subsequently found his opportunities limited due to the emergence of Sakho as a quality player.
