Daniel Sturridge has taken to Twitter to left the fans know that he is gutted by the ankle injury he picked up which will most likely force him out of action for 8 weeks.

The Liverpool striker hopes to be back playing even better than before and has thanked the fans for their support.

Brendan Rodgers gave us an update on Sturridge after the Hull game and said, “He’ll be disappointed. It’s a very busy period we’re coming into and we’re a squad that needs as many of our good players as possible. It’s not ideal.

“It was an ankle sprain [in training]. He just slipped on the surface. We thought initially it was his toe and he went straight in with the medics before the end of training getting a scan. Then it came back that that’s what it was [ankle]. It’s a big blow for us.

“We’ve got other players available that will hopefully come in and stake their claim now.

“Our front area of the pitch has been reasonably settled, but this will give someone else an opportunity if they come in.”

Sturridge’s absence was already felt on Sunday as the Reds went down 3-1 to Hull. Brendan Rodgers has got some major decisions to make during Sturridge’s absence, starting with the visit of Norwich to Anfield on Wednesday night.

This is certainly a must win game for Liverpool and the good thing is that is comes so soon after the Hull game so we can hopefully get that defeat out of our system.
