With Liverpool having fewer games this season due to no European Football and being knocked out of the League Cup early, it is important for some of the fringe players to leave the club in January on loan so that they get some much needed playing time as opposed to sitting on the bench at Anfield.

With the hectic Christmas period coming up, Brendan Rodgers is going to have to rotate a few of the regular first team players so that we remain as fresh as possible but some players may not even get a chance during this rotation period and come the new year, playing time will be even lesser.

We have seen how well Suso has benefited from going out on loan to Alemeria in La Liga and Andre Wisdom is also making a mark whilst on loan at Derby County. We have a great crop of young players and it would be highly beneficial to send them out on loan for their own benefit.

Here are 5 players that Brendan Rodgers should consider sending out on loan:

1) Jon Flanagan

Jon Flanagan

Although Flanagan had a brilliant display for Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby, I am sure his opportunities will still be limited when Jose Enrique returns from injury in the new year. Flano is a right back but is more than capable of playing on the left. I am sure he will get his run during Enrique’s absence but his situation could be further complicated if Liverpool manage to sign Barcelona’s Martin Montoya.

Montoya has been linked with a January move to Liverpool and if he does sign, that could further limit Flanagan’s chances because Montoya is also capable of playing left or right back.

Flano has a lot of potential and would be a good player to have in the squad for the future. He just needs more game time under his belt where he is able to play regularly and going out on loan could provide him with that.
