Liverpool are today being linked with a move for German International left back Dennis Aogo. The Daily Express is reporting that the Hamburg defender could be available for as little as £2.5million. Reports in Germany suggest that Schalke, where Aogo is currently on loan, thought they had agreed a deal that would see Aogo stay there permanently at the end of the season. But according to Bild, Aogo is yet to agree to the move and could yet push for a transfer that would see hims earn a higher salary elsewhere.
Currently, Jose Enrique is the Reds first choice left back but he has been dogged by injuries this season and that has seen Aly Cissokho filling in. Cissokho was signed on loan from Valencia in the summer to provide cover and competition for Enrique but the few games the French defender has featured in, he has not looked good enough.
There had been thoughts that Cissokho’s move to Liverpool could have been made permanent in the summer but judging from his performances, Brendan Rodgers may decide he does not want him and thus another left back like Aogo can be brought in.
Aogo is 25-years old and is a better attacking full back then he is defending. But that does not mean he is a slouch in defence, as you can see from the video below.
Liverpool will however face competition from Bayer Leverkusen and Roma for the signature of Aogo.
Asked was asked where he expected to be playing next season, Aogo said: “I do not plan anything anymore. I live in the moment.”
This would be a very good signing if the Reds are able to pull it off. At least we would then have two very good left backs and both of them offering something different. This is one area of the squad that Brendan Rodgers really needs to address come the summer.
From the video he look good. Better than Cissokho .At least he knows how to make clean tackles and he provides many assists too for his fellow teammate. For this price it is a good bargain.
