Having only joined Liverpool this summer from Celta Vigo, Liverpool striker Iago Aspas is already being linked with a move back to Spain on loan according to reports in the Daily Star.

Valencia are apparently the club interested in the Spanish striker who has struggled to make a major impact for Liverpool this season. Valencia themselves are still looking for a striker to replace Roberto Soldado who joined Tottenham in the summer.

Aspas looked good in Liverpool’s pre-season games and a lot was expected of him at the start of the Premier League season as Luis Suarez was not playing due to suspension. In the opening games of the season Aspas featured but was playing out wide and not in his preferred central role which was being occupied by Daniel Sturridge. At this time, Rodgers was playing a 4-3-3 formation which really had only room for one central striker: Sturridge. Aspas looked very average in those games and really struggled.

As expected, Suarez returned and Aspas was out of the starting lineup and he has subsequently picked up a thigh injury and is currently on the sidelines. It will be difficulty for Aspas to get back into the Liverpool side when he returns from injury and maybe that is why Valencia are thinking they could prize him away.

It would be a huge surprise if Rodgers does let Aspas leave considering that the striker has not really had enough time to prove himself. He was a hit at Celta Vigo and knows how to find the back of the net. Some may say that he has struggled to adopt his game to the Premier League but we can only fairly judge that if Aspas is given at least a full season in the Premier League and being played as a central striker.

I would hold on to Aspas as I think he needs more time to adopt to the EPL. He is a proven goal scorer n Liverpool need to have him there just to add to our stricker position’s!!
