There was an uproar on Tuesday at reports suggested that Daniel Agger had said that he would quit Liverpool if he did not get back into the first team.
Agger apparently said, “If I don’t play, and if the manager doesn’t think I am good enough, that could make me leave Liverpool.
“I’m here to play football, nothing else. So if I don’t play football, then I don’t want to be here anymore.”
As you can imagine, such a statement would have shocked Liverpool fans. Agger is struggling to get back into the Liverpool starting lineup following his freak gym injury a few weeks ago. Sakho, Skrtel and Toure currently occupy the three available centre back slots and neither of them have done anything wrong to warrant them being dropped for Agger. So the Liverpool vice-captain just has to wait for his chance to get back into the side.
Agger then came out on Twitter to rectify the quotes being made in the papers and he tweeted, “Please stop all the tweets about me leaving! I’m not going anywhere! Will be back in the team soon:) Y.N.W.A.”
Now that is the kind of news Liverpool fans want to hear! Agger is still a critical part of the Liverpool side and we need him to come in when one of our current centre backs has a loss in form or is injured. I am pretty sure when Agger makes his return to the side, the player stepping out for him will struggle to make his way back into the starting eleven. This is the kind of quality competition in the squad that we have been yearning for at Liverpool. Hats off to Agger for declaring that he will be back in the team soon which means he is ready to fight for his jersey.
Liverpool …BR ..must keep Luis Suarez he is the best striker in the world. Agger also the best defende must keep him.
