The Mirror is reporting today that Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is set to join Derby County on loan:

Liverpool are letting England under-21 defender Andre Wisdom go to Steve McClaren’s Derby County on loan.

McClaren made an approach for highly-rated Wisdom – who can play at right back or centre half – despite his side’s big win at Watford.

Wisdom has been available to go out for games for a few weeks and Brendan Rodgers is happy for him to go to the Rams for action.

McClaren wanted to bring in a new defender from the day he arrived and the chance to snap up Wisdom for the rest of the year is a major boost for his squad.

This move could be very beneficial to Liverpool on two fronts: Firstly it will give Wisdom the opportunity to play more regularly and thus improve him as a player. Sitting on the bench for Liverpool is not helping him grow right now and chances of him breaking into the first team have become very slim considering that Sakho, Skrtel, Toure and Agger are head of him in the central defence positions and Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly are the preferred right backs when fit. There is no doubt that Wisdom is going to be a great player in the future, he is still only 20-years old and needs to be playing more at this stage in his career.

The second reason this move could be worthwhile for the Reds is that it could strike a good relationship with Derby and they could give Liverpool first option to sign their star midfielder Will Hughes who is being chased by a whole host of clubs in the Premier League.
Derby are desperate for a new defender and if Liverpool help them by offering Wisdom then surely Derby would see that as a sign of good faith?

Could very well be the case!!!.

Rubbish, the loan of Wisdom will make absolutely no difference to the Will Hughes negotiations, the only thing that will matter is money, and they want too much for lets face it a kid.
