One position many Liverpool fans feel needs strengthening is our central midfield. Our current options in there include Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson and Allen.

Gerrard is and will always be ‘Captain Fantastic’ and I can not see Rodgers dropping him anytime soon. Although Gerrard has lost some pace and intensity due to age, he still has a critical role to play for the Reds. Lucas is starting to find his feet again following his injury problems but his lack of discipline has cost him a one match ban already. He really needs to work better on not giving away silly free kicks and giving the ball away cheaply. Jordan Henderson has been used as a right wing back for most parts of the season but he feels much more at home in the middle of the park as we saw against Crystal Palace. As for Joe Allen, he is only returning from injury now and has a lot to prove after is luke warm debut season for the Reds.

With only four recognised central midfielders, it is clear that we need some reinforcements there and Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke is the latest name to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

talkSPORT suggests that Liverpool are set to make a £17million for the 21-year old who has been capped three times for Spain already.

Koke has been having a blinder of season thus far for Atletico and is probably their second best player to Diego Costa who to was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer. Considering that Atletico are doing well and have not lost a game this season, it would be difficult to see how they would be willing to sell one of their star players. However, if Liverpool are able to convince the young star to join them in January then it would be a major transfer coup as we would be getting in a quality player who is ready to go straight into the starting lineup.

If Liverpool do miss out on Koke then we should continue to pursue our hunt for central midfield cover. Young Will Hughes from Derby is also a potential candidate to come into Liverpool’s midfield.

Very good player but i doubt he would leave Atletico Madrid and join us unless they start to lose badly from now on. How about we get Alex Song from Barca? I gather he wants to leave.

thank you. song would be perfect and he is forgoten man at barca. could be the snag of lifetime. competition at world class level for lucas and at 26 he is just getting into his prime and has a future.

Lfc should find a replacement for Lucas urgently because he’s our weakest link.

  4. He looks good . Only thing is his price is a bit too high for Liverpool to accept.
