The return of Luis Suarez to the Liverpool side following his 10 match ban has been welcome by many. None more so than fellow South American Lucas.

The Brazilian midfielder sees the return of Suarez to the side as a welcome boost and further adds the importance of the Liverpool number seven as dubbing him the best player in the League last season. The award for the best player in the league last term went to Spurs’ Gareth Bale but many still believe the accolade should have been Suarez’s.

“Luis was the best player in the Premier League last year, so having him in our side again this season is just a real boost for all the team and the squad,” Lucas told Liverpoolfc.com.

“He’s really happy to be back. He’s always been training with us, but now he’s available to help us in the official games, it will be much better.

“We just hope he can have the same season that he had last year because he was a really important player for us.

“If he does the same as last season, we will have a better chance to achieve what we want to achieve.

“He’s just given us more confidence. The squad that we had without him was a good one, but with him back in it, we’ll be even better. He’s one of the best in the world.”

This could be the season Suarez finally gets his deserved “best player in the league” award. With Bale having left for Real Madrid there are few who stand in the strikers way. Suarez has already gotten up and running with a great performance against Sunderland coupled with two goals in that game. If Suarez can stay out of trouble and add another 20 plus goals this season, then surely he will be up there again as the best player in the league.

Those awards are a farce. The best players hardly win. Suarez was hands down better than Bale but coz of the bit Suarez was shunned upon. If Luis behaves and stays fit then there is no better player in the league. Rvp is pants now as his whole team is in trouble now that Fergie has gone
