The Mirror is reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Newcastle’s captain Fabricio Coloccini during the January transfer window. Newcastle would not be impressed with this news at all especially since we have already signed two of their best players in Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique, signing their current best player now again would be a bitter pill for them to swallow.
But do Liverpool really need to sign Coloccini? I do not think so in my opinion. Yes Coloccini is a good centre-back but we already have enough centre-backs at the club right now. The report suggests that Coloccini is seen as a replacement for the aging Carragher.
Yes Jamie’s days are numbered but we already have Sebastian Coates who can step in and take over from Carragher alongside Agger, Skrtel and Wilson. In my opinion, I see Martin Kelly being Liverpool’s long term central defender alongside Agger (when fit) or Coates.
The report says that Damien Comolli has been scouting Coloccini but then again, the defender is 29-years-old which is not inline with our new policy of buying young players that we can sell on if need be.
What are your thoughts on this rumour?
We have Coates, Agger, Skrtel, Wilson and othet academy players apart from Carra. Do we need another one? If we sell Lucas and buy Coloccini, then it is justified. ‘Livermad’ would agree with me
sell lucas??…are stupid or just crazy???
ar u mad..why should u mention Lucas..dnt u no Lucas is d best eva
In my opinion a CB is our number one priority come January.
Its been a problem for some time and can no longer be ignored.
If we continue with Carra we won’t be playing Champions League next year, we’re leaking way to many goals.
It needs to be someone who can walk straight into the team and do the job from day one.
However I would be dumbstruck if we sign Coloccini.
For me, our best option is Gary Cahill.
I hope this story is BS…
Agree that Kelly is the answer………can we clone him though?
Our best signing in Jan would be a new manager.
