Liverpool went down 1-0 to Stoke on Saturday in a match which we should have gotten something out of. We were unlucky to be awarded the penalty and there is a lot of debate as to whether Carragher’s challenge deserved a penalty.

But be that as it may, we lost and we have to look back and see what went wrong. We did not do too much wring actually against Stoke, we played well but we were just not able to score. “I thought we played some decent football,” Stewart Downing told Liverpoolfc.tv. “We were unlucky and on another day we would have put our chances away, but it wasn’t to be.”

“We are very disappointed with the result but we are delighted with the effort and the commitment of the players,” Kenny Dalglish said after the game.

“On another day we could have scored three or four – I don’t think there was anything wrong with our performance. Although the passing wasn’t as good as what it has been, it was still good enough to have scored three or four goals in the game.

“There was not much more we could have done other than have that little bit of luck in front of goal.”

For me the biggest frustration of the match was when Jordan Henderson was put through on goal and he was one-on-one with the keeper but failed to score. Suarez’s miss at the death was also a heart-breaking moment but as highlighted, it was not our day.

Craig Bellamy came on with about 20 minutes to and he looked good and we can expect a lot more from him this season. I am not sure if Charlie Adam was fully fit on Saturday following the knock he picked up on international duty as quite a bit of his passes were not finding their man.

Who was Liverpool's man of the match against Stoke?

Only 5 players were decent against Stoke, namely Reina, Agger, Enrique, Downing and Bellamy. Suarez was a disappointment; hard working but missed open opportunities!

      no player really shone

only player who was consistent as he is in every game was Lucas he deserved liverpools man of the match more than suarez.

suarez didn’t do enough to get motm in my opinion

I do honestly believe bellamy should of came on sooner he looked sharp

      Flop of the match:

      no doubt charlie adam

      has to be charlie adam

satha you are an idiot. without Suarez liver be a fish without water. yes the coming of steve will give the mid field some touch but adams was and will be nothing unless his attitude changes.

Too much is being asked of Suarez. He’s more a creator than a pure finisher, and now having shipped off anyone creative enough to work with him in the box he’s trying to do it himself. liverpool will not get it’s best return from Suarez until there is a dangerous RM and a real number 10. Shipping Raul looks a big mistake. Henderson and Adam? Ordinary British players. Nothing wrong with them but let’s not pretend that is the quality that secures 4th place.

SUAREZ WILL SCORE A LOT OF GOALS I WOULDN’T SAY HES MORE A CREATOR THAN A FINISHER LOOK AT HIS RECORD AT AJAX IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF . WE WILL DEFINITELY FINISH IN THE TOP FOUR WE ARE BETTER THAN CHELSEA VILLAS BOAS WILL GET THE SACK IN JANUARY. WE ARE BETTER THAN ARSENAL And spurs. spurs will be fighting for the top 6 never mind the top 4. In January kk will sign another striker . and next year we will challenge for the title.

you may be right, and hope you are, but if we lose away to spurs we’ll be on 7 points from 5 games without having played the top 3. no match this early can be called a ‘must win’, but the critics will have the knives out.

first of all : i dont regret mirelis departure coz we didnt want to sell him he wanted to move away accordin to at comolli said besides kk stated earlier wen he took the job that wen a player doesnt want to play his heart out for the club or wants to leave then the best thing is to let him go …. 2nd: ppl been talkin and wonderin alot about gerrard and how will he fit in the kk system … Well there is a good spot for him which is just behind the strikers the spot whr mirelis used to play recently if u remeber the golden era of the partnership between torres n gerrard n hw they made wonders and lot ofgoals .. gerrard wud fit nicely there n will make suarez from a (chances creator ) to a chances finisher dont u agree? … 3rd: abt the performance … We played n played the most decent football against stoke’s fortress . Created many chances but we were just unlucky just as downing said . 4th: speakin abt the man of the match look at the best of the game wch was the many chances we got … who created the most of those chances … No doubt it was our engine room players who are LUcas and ADamand since that ADam was sufferin frrom the injury n his passes look inaccurate at time i will choose LUcas for it .
