Many fans were surprised to see Kenny Dalglish start with a very strong lineup on Wednesday night against Exeter in the second round of the Carling Cup. It was clear that Dalglish is taking this competition seriously this year and the players did not let us down as we ran out 3-1 winner thanks to goals from Suarez, Maxi and Carroll.

Dalglish said after the game, “We said before the game we’d make changes. But we also said it shouldn’t be taken in any way shape or form as a sign of being disrespectful towards Exeter or the Carling Cup. We are Liverpool Football Club and we will try to win every game that we’ve got to play.

“I think the one thing we have learned at this club since I’ve been here is that you have to be respectful and to be respectful when you’ve won as well.

“It’s not a bad night when you win is it? We’ll just bob along slowly but surely together and see what happens.”
