When Liverpool scored the second goal on Saturday against Arsenal after a brilliant move by Lucas and Meireles gave Suarez the easiest of tap-ins, The three players celebrated but Raul pulled up his middle finger and seemed to be showing it to Lucas or was he showing it to the Arsenal fans? Suarez was quick to pull the finger down from Meireles.
I just hope the FA do not look into this and start to say Raul was pulling it to the Arsenal fans and thus he deserves a 3 match ban!

The story is that Frimpong had given Lucas the finger earlier as he was being sent off, so Meireles was just having a laugh by raising his finger to Lucas. Frimpong’s gesture was far more malevolent than Raul’s so if anyone deserves punishment, it’s the Arsenal man. Either way though, it doesn’t really matter no harm done with this.
actually, Frimpong gave the finger when he was tackled and was on the ground. I caught a glimpse of it cuz I am watching it from Vietnam. But i doubt that they showed that part in other countries. Probably censored
I’ve had a good look at this. If you watch the position of the players just before the camera angle switches to a close up, Lucas would have been running past the Arsenal keeper to go towards Suarez and Miereles. So when you see him flicking the bird and Lucas appears it doesn’t actually look like it’s right at Lucas (judging by when he appears on camera), it looks more like it’s someone just to the left of Lucas. The only player that I can make out in that area is the Arsenal GK?
That’s true – I actually thought that myself when I saw it first. I’m only going on what I’ve read in a few articles, and I think Frimpong DID actually give Lucas the finger earlier in the game. Maybe Raul was making the gesture over in the vague direction of the Arsenal bench where Frimpong was sitting? Or, because it was such a brief action, maybe he was pointing it towards the are of the pitch in which the Frimpong incident happened? As if to say to Lucas, “Remember that?”
I dunno. The concern would be that some people looking to stir up shit would shed this in the same light as the Rooney ‘shouting profanities at the camera in the West Ham game’ from last season. I’m not suggesting the incidents are particularly similar, but football fans and the media like to be a little sensational now and then, don’t they?

Henderson might be one for the future but why Merieles was not on from the start is a mystery. Charlie Adam is a good player and will be fine when he gets used to the team. Enrique and Downing are class. However, this team will not challenge for the title I am afraid.

We went to Arsenal and did a job. For those people who say we didn’t compete with Arsenal, do you actually know anything about football?! All of the Arsenal back four and the keeper were Premiership regulars last season, as is Nasri, van Persie, Ramsey, Walcott…the side wasn’t as depleted as you think. There’s probably only Fabregas and Wilshere missing!
