Whenever I see Liverpool youngster Jack Robinson play, I feel I am looking at a player who could play for the Reds for many years to come. I know that is a big statement to make but for me the Reds youngster has all the attributes to succeed at the highest level.

For sure, there is no need to get carried away after a meaningless friendly against a second division Chinese side in Guangdong Sunray Cave today, but when he came on in the second half, he was once again one of the stand out performers, and looked one of the most assured players on the ball despite his age.
I have to keep reminding myself he is just 17 years of age as physically he has developed very well over the last year or so. He has always possessed a great deal of pace but he also looks to have the strength to push players off the ball and come away with possession. He rarely ever gives the ball away too which is a great asset as a full back, especially in attacking situations.

One instance that showed both his strength and tackling ability was when he put in a crunching tackle by the corner flag against a Guangdong player mid way through the second half. Of course, the Reds did concede two goals late into added time but both came from the right hand side and were not Jack’s fault. Andre Wisdom, a year older than Robinson, who played at right back, was strong in the air, but he was caught out of position a couple of times during the second period showing he maybe further back in his development than Robinson.

Not sure to be honest, seems like a decent defender but he doesn’t go forward at all.
The game has changed and he looks a bit old school. That however could be what hes been told to do. Maybe he has a better future at centre back.

he is very good and i think he will be better use at left back with andre wisdom at centre back, he has loads of time to improve because he is still 17.

We should all support Darren Clarke and Thomas Bjorn in the Open today – both are big LFC fans – YNWA!

I agree with this but hopefully Kenny saw what happened with Insua when Rafa seemed to overplay him (looking back he had to because Aurelio was injured and the other left back was Dossena) but if we dont overplay him i completely agree he could play for Liverpool for quite some time and the left back spot wont be an issue any more as it has been since Riise left. Good article.

Maybe Wisdom has a lot to learn about right back because he has always played at center back.

Robinson is definitely going to be one of the best left backs in the world if he fulfills his potential. But i don’t agree that Insua will hold back his progress. I think Liverpool need to sell Aurelio because he is not good enough for Liverpool, not because he is bad player but because he plays very few games every season. I think Robinson is not yet ready for regular first team action, so i would like Liverpool to keep Insua as second choice leftback to whoever Liverpool buy this summer and sell Aurelio and play Jack in cup games. So when Jack is ready for first team, we can always sell Insua and we will definitely get higher price than we will get for selling him now. Insua is a really good player, his link up play is good and he is one of the better crossers in our team, so he will be useful for us. But i think Aurelio is a liability, had he been injury free he would be among best leftbacks in the league but its a pity.

Wot utter rubbish abt wisdom! He’s a bit further back with development? How can he be? Hea a centre half being played at right back! If you support Liverpool you should really know players postions

    Jesus !!!!

He wants to get rid of the fit , healthy & capable Insua for the delicate sickly inconsistent , 5 games per season 30+ yr old Fabio Injurio & cites his reason as being he thinks Insua will hold his teen dream back !!!???
