Which one do we want: a French or Spanish Left-Back?
I believe that Gael Clichy and Jose Enrique could meet those requirements and have readiness to step up and impress the Liverpool fans with their aggresiveness on helping the attacking phase and their fervent vision on fathoming and breaking the opponent’s attack. In a nutshell, I can claim that the ability of both of these players is almost equal. The difference between them is purely their nationality, past experience on different level of club (the middle-table Newcastle and top-four Arsenal), and transfer fee.
LFC could ship the quick and experienced Gael Clichy from Arsenal for around £7million while we could redeem the sturdy and energetic Jose Enrique from Newcastle around in £15million. The gap on the price tag is quite significant, but Enrique is still affordable and thanks to John Henry for the strong financial support toward LFC. The saga is even more interesting because Gael Clichy has rejected his move to Roma recently and expressed his desire to play with LFC next season, while Phil Thompson claimed that Jose Enrique is a done deal and will play for Liverpool next season.
So, all we can do is just wait and see for King Kenny to decide which player is better to play in a Red jersey next season based on his perspective. Whoever will be signed, Clichy or Enrique, it is not a problem at all for me based on their almost equal meritocracy. Hope that LFC will get the finest and the most needed player in order to compete for the title next season. YNWA.
