With all the transfer speculation going on at Liverpool, one transfer target has come in under the radar in a position which is not of major concern. Liverpool have Pepe Reina as the established first choice goalkeeper and he will not be losing his place anytime soon but as always we need a decent backup to him.

Liverpool had been linked with a move for Brad Friedel but he opted to join Tottenham but now Liverpool are in the running to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni for £1million. Doni currently plays for Roma in Italy but the club are ready to sell the player to Liverpool according to his agent.

“I spoke to the club (Roma) yesterday and they confirmed they are holding talks with Liverpool to reach an agreement regarding the transfer of Doni,” Doni’s agent Ovidio Colucci said.

“Once an agreement is reached betwen the two clubs, we will begin negotiating personal terms with Liverpool.

“Doni would be very happy to join Liverpool and play in the Premier League.”

There is no harm at all in having an experienced goalkeeper on the bench just in-case Reina gets injured.
