Watching Liverpool dismantle Manchester City last night (Monday) at Anfield was one of the best moments for me this season. Going into the game I was a bit worried about how our makeshift defence would handle the attacking threat of City but we nullified them in every department of the field and we gave them a 3-0 whipping.

All the talk this morning around the game is about Andy Carrol and his brace of goals. I know many people were very sceptical of Andy Carroll when he joined Liverpool on transfer deadline day in January for £35 million. “He is a waste of money! He can not use his feet! £35 million is way too much for him!” Those were some of the statements I was hearing. Many people have doubted Andy Carroll but I am glad he has silenced those critics after his two well taken goals last night.

I have never doubted Andy Carroll for one second and I believed he was a great signing for Liverpool and I am glad he has proved me right so far. He joined Liverpool carrying an injury but he seems to have worked on his fitness and he is getting some game-time now. Dalglish had said we will only see the best of Carroll and Suarez next season but if last night is anything to go by, we are in for a great time as Liverpool fans next term with this partnership upfront. Let us not call them ‘the new Toshack and Keegan’ because they are not. They are Carroll and Suarez!

What really impressed me last night about Carroll is how well he linked up with Suarez and at times Kuyt. What is going to be even more interesting is next season when Liverpool get an out and out winger to supply more ammunition to Carroll.

“There is only one Andy Carroll” is what the Kop belted out last night. I think we need a chant just for Carroll, something along the lines of the Torres bounce we had. I wonder how Torres will be feeling now that Carroll has gotten off the mark and he is still struggling at Chelsea!
