In an interview with the BBC, Rafa Benitez was asked if he would consider being Liverpool manager again. Rafa said, “To be manager of Liverpool is a dream for me. This time, I know that Kenny is doing really well.

“I have to wait and keep watching games, but if you say to me in the future would you like to be manager, for sure, no doubt about this. When, that is the question. I have to move forward, anyway.”

Rafa is currently unemployed after being sacked by Inter Milan in December only six months after it was announced he had left Liverpool by mutual consent following six years in charge. Rafa is back living on Merseyside with his family. Could he just be waiting for a phone call from Liverpool asking him to return? If he is, I doubt that phone call will come any time soon, if ever!

I can not see Mr. Henry hiring Rafa Benitez again especially at the end of this season when Dalglish’s current contract runs out. I have heard some people suggesting that Rafa should come back and be part of the backroom staff at Liverpool and work alongside King Kenny. I have laughed this one off as I can not see Rafa be willing to take a back seat at Liverpool, he would want to be in-charge and making decisions.

Rafa bought us success and heartache during his spell at Liverpool. He had his chance and I can not see him being allowed to be Liverpool manager again. That would simply be taking a step backwards in Liverpool’s case. Rafa is one of the best tacticians of the game today and I think he is more suited to managed a country as opposed to a club. If Rafa is not after an International job then I am sure he will jump at the bit to take over from the next Premier League manager who is sacked!

Would you like Rafa Benitez to manage Liverpool again?
