There is still a lot of talking making the rounds that we may be after Carlos Tevez. I guess we have to wait and see what happens after the Champions League finally. But Mascherano has come out and said that he would love to see Tevez join him at Liverpool.

SOCCER: MAR 14 Barclays Premier League - Manchester United v Liverpool

A lot of odds seem to be stacked firmly in our favour regards to Tevez joining us in the summer. Tevez has apparently said he would like to join us and play for Liverpool. He can still stay in his current home in Cheshire if he joins Liverpool. He says his family is happy and settled in England and he would not want to move them. He would be getting Champions League football if he joins Liverpool and would surely be set to play a lot more games for us than he did at United. The fact that one of his best buddies, Mascherano, is at Liverpool is probably one of the biggest drivers to Tevez joining us. And wouldn’t Tevez just love to rub salt into Sir Alex’s wounds for all the times he left him on the bench by him joining us. We know how Sir Alex would never allow at United player to leave and join Liverpool.

I am sure once Mascherano gets to sit down with Tevez in a few days day when they away on International duty, Javier will have a little chat to Tevez and convince him to join Liverpool!

Ok, so Tevez is a great dirk kuyt like player, with more skill, pace, and finesse. But where would he play in our current formation? On the right in place of kuyt? He can’t play behind Torres, as Gerrard does that. If we play with two forwards, we leave only 4 in the midfield. Currently, we have Gerrard, Masch, Alonso, Kuyt, and Reira. If Tevez joins, I AM ASSUME WE WILL SELL ALONSO, right? I don’t know about hat. Perhaps he can take the place of Riera on the left? Can someone please explain this to me.

I hear you Jhoff and these questions did cross my mind. Firstly, to get Tevez we may just have to sell Alonso which is a shame. But if Rafa decides to use all his transfer kitty which is rumoured to be 30m on Tevez and we keep Alonso then I see Tevez taking the role of Kuyt on the right.

I feel Tevez would offer us much more than Kuyt in going forward and you could always have Gerrard and Tevz switching during the game with Tevez coming in behind Torres whilst Gerrard goes out onto the right.

Tevez would be excellent as a late replacement in Kuyt’s role applying pace against a worn down left back. Especially following the plodding of Kuyt. He would also be effective in creating space vs lesser opposition. However, the one thing he is not is a stand alone striker who can get a lot of starts up front exclusively for us. Will he be open to playing a variety of roles? Will he be willing to accept that again he may not play 90 minutes every match? These are questions that Javier and Rafa need to be finding out the answers as they can. For a lower price than currently quoted I would say great buy, but for 25 mil I say pass.
