What a game, what a result! As I write this we are top of the table but the Man Utd – Aston Villa game is just about to kickoff and there is no guessing who I will be supporting! Yesterday’s win against Fulham just showed me that it may just be written that we are going to win the league this season. I will be honest, after we had hit the woodwork so many times during that game, I was thinking that this may not just be our day. But up pops Yossi with the winner in injury time. That moment was priceless!! The reaction from the players was special when that goal went in and even the subs got onto the pitch to celebrate. I think the guys actually believe that they can win this title.
Going into the game, I was not too sure how we would do. We had been in great form before the International break and I just wondered how the lads would bounce back from this break. I must say the biggest shock for me was seeing Dossena and Insua both starting the game and only to find out that Dossena was going to be playing left wing. He did not do too badly at all and came close to scoring twice. I would love to find out if there is any other game in the Premierships history that has had one team hit the woodwork as much as we did yesterday!
We were the much better team against Fulham and it would have been unjust if we did not get the win. The fact that it came with seconds to go in the game was only fitting. We have become masters of these late shows this season. I think as Liverpool fans, our hearts have gone through a lot this season! I am only feeling human again now (4pm) after having several drinks at the pub last night after the game. We have had a lot to celebrate this season, I just wish we can wrap it up with lifting a trophy at the end of it all.
Now hopefully Villa can do us a favour and even if they hold United to a draw that will be good enough for us.
Bring on Chelsea on Wednesday.
