Great result on Saturday! I have a friend who is a Blackburn supporter and I have always made fun of him and ask him, “Why do you support Blackburn of all teams?” So this weekend I had even more reason to make fun of him. In truth, it was a game we should have won on paper but I know trips to Ewood Park are tricky at times so we had to be extra careful. With all the other teams around us having easy games this weekend, we just had to win and win we did.
I was a bit surprised that Robbie Keane did not start as Rafa opted to play with Kuyt upfront. I would have thought that Rafa would want to give Keane as many games as possible so he can get some goals. But even without Keane we won. I believe we are playing much better away from home as teams have to come out and play against us rather than sit back when they come to Anfield. It gives us much more space to break the teams down when we away from home.
Yet again, I thought we may get a 0-0 draw as we saved it for late yet again to get the 3 points. Credit to Alonso for giving us the lead with a calm, accurate finish. Then Yossi virtually sealed the win with a brilliant goal. I like Yossi, he has that something different and has the ability to just turn games.
When Blackburn pulled one back I got a bit edgy but time was on our side and we just had to run down the clock and the bonus was Stevie got the third with another calm, accurate strike.
All in all, 3 great points which keep us top of the table and we just need to carry on winning. The simple fact is, if we win all the games left this season we are champions!
