Striker Andriy Voronin has agreed a one-year loan deal with Hertha Berlin. The Ukrainian international joined Liverpool on a free transfer 12 months ago, but failed to make much of an impact at Liverpool with many fans not being overly impressed by the striker. Voronin scored six goals in his 27 appearances for the club but will now return to the Bundesliga, having previously played for Bayer Leverkusen and Cologne.

Voronin just did not seem to fit in at Liverpool and as much as he may have wanted to stay, I think Rafa has advised him that he will not get much game time this season if he stayed and a move away from the club would be best for him. I would have wanted to see him sold permanently and then we get some cash to spend from his sale. I will not miss Voronin much as he did not do too much to impress me in the 12 months he was with us. My one memory I will take away was his goal against Tolouse and that is about it. It would be a rather short highlights package to reflect Voronin’s time at Anfield.

But thank you for your services Andriy, and wishing you all the best in Germany.
