The final game of pre-season. So far so good, now it is just time to wrap it all up against the Italian side Lazio at Anfield. It will be a great game tomorrow, largely due to the fact that we will be playing our ‘first’ home game of the season. It may only be a friendly but any game for Liverpool at Anfield is special. More so for the new boys signed this summer who will be getting their first run out at Anfield.

Of particular interest will be Robbie Keane. He has been looking forward to this day for a long time now and how fitting it would be if he also gets to score his first goal tomorrow in front of The Kop. I am sure he will bring out the cartwheel celebration if that is the case! I certainly hope Rafa starts with Keane and Torres again upfront as they need as many games together as possible before the big kick off against Sunderland in the Premiership.

Stevie Gerrard will definitely be missing from tomorrows game through injury and that could see Alonso playing another critical role for us in the middle of the park. Alonso has looked good this pre-season following on from his great form in the Euro Championships. I guess maybe Rafa and the owners may have decided that there is not need to sign Gareth Barry if Alonso is going to stay and do a great job for us. Many of us had thought that tomorrow nights game was going to be the first time we see Barry in a Liverpool shirt, but still, no sign of Barry at Liverpool.

On the transfer front, Rafa came out today and said that he has not intentions of selling Benayoun and Kuyt this summer. Both players remain firmly in Rafa’s plans and I think this is a good move as these are two important players to the Liverpool squad.

I am sure new left-back, Dossena, will be looking forward to tomorrow’s game against his fellow country men. Dossena has impressed me so far this pre-season and he already looks like a good buy. The real test though will come when the real action starts next week. I am sure we are going to win tomorrows game, maybe not score another 4 goals but we will prevail. Looking forward to th game. Kick off at 20:00.
