Just when I was about to give Andriy Voronin a chance, he goes and lets us down again. Yes, it was only a pre-season game but missing a penalty is just not on. Liverpool drew 0 – 0 with Hertha in last nights pre-season game. Some have questioned why Voronin is getting so many games under his belt in pre-season. The answer may be that Rafa is putting Voronin in the ‘shop window’ so hopefully someone can see him play and come in and make an offer for him. Voronin has not done too badly this pre-season, scoring a couple of goals, but the fear always lies in how well will he do when the season starts?
Danny Pacheco also got another run out yesterday and the more games he plays the better he will become. But now that Torres will be back in training on Friday together with Reina, Arbeloa and Alonso, the ‘real’ pre-season training can begin with the full compliment of the squad available.
I read a comment this morning that got me laughing about Voronin, it read: “Voronin, seems to be almost solar-powered due to his impressive displays in the warmer months at the start and end of the season.”
