There have been suggestions this morning that Jermaine Pennant could be on his way out of Liverpool and headed over to Blackburn. I am not too sure how far true this is but it sounds like a real possibility to me. Pennant has really never gotten going at Anfield. There were times last season when he was playing well and I thought he deserved an England call up but that was not meant to be. There are not many great games I can remember Pennant playing for Liverpool and for a winger he has very few goals to his name. There is the one against Chelsea which was amazing but that is about it.
If it means selling Pennant for £6m then I would be okay with that as that would add some much needed money to get the likes of Barry and Keane. It would make sense for Blackburn to be after Pennant as they most likely need a replacement for David Bentley who is most likely going to Spurs. I would not be too disheartened to see Pennant leave if it means we will be getting a better player. Judging by the new formation Rafa will play next season, there may not be room for an out and out winger like Pennant.
