Now it is thought that if Ryan Babel gets fit again after his injury before Euro 2008, he to could also be on his way to play for Holland in the Olympics.
I have no problem with players playing for their country but at times these international fixtures just come at the wrong time for clubs. Let us take Babel’s situation; he got injured whilst on international duty. Now he is almost fit again and he will have to be shipped off to the Olympics again before he even plays for us. Who knows what will happen to him at the Olympics, he could just get another injury.
It is understandable why Rafa is not happy with the prospect of loosing Babel to the Olympics. We need to make a good start to the season and that means having our best players around. We have already lost Mascherano who is essential to our play, now if Babel also goes we loosing yet another vital piece of our team. We do not need these complications right at the start of our season.
One person who I am happy is going to the Olympics though is my friend Chris Felgate who will be competing in the Triathlon.
