It looks almost certain that Liverpool will complete their third signing of the summer by capturing the Brazilian goal keeper, Diego Cavalieri for £3m. Cavalieri will be Pepe Reina’s understudy and I am sure he is clear that that will be his role at the club. Often it is very difficult for a goal keeper to agree signing for a team and knowing that they will be on the bench all the time. It is understood that Cavaleri has already completed a successful medical and has put in an application for a work permit. If all goes well, he should be a Liverpool player this week. Chris Itandje who was the backup goal keeper last season looks set to leave this summer to join Galatasaray for £2m. All in all it will not be a bad bit of business, spending a net £1m for a better backup goal keeper.
