All the talk right now may be about who we want to sign in the summer or who is leaving and who would be the best player to join Liverpool. But I think the best bit of business this summer could be the appointment of Sammy Lee as Rafa’s assistant. We clearly had a dip in form when Rafa’s long time assistant and friend, Paco, left the team to go back to Spain. Alex Miller then took over as the ‘assistant’ and that seemed to work but now Rafa has a world class assistant in the form of Sammy Lee.
The moment Sammy Lee got sacked by Bolton I called out for him to come back to Anfield and my wishes came true. Sammy knows his football well and he has Liverpool at his heart. The players will respect him a great deal. I can’t wait to see him back in the dugout and ‘barking’ commands to the players on the field and showing emotions when we score.
I just had a look at the pictures on the Official Website of our first training session and it was great to see Rafa and Sammy in the pictures. We have a solid back room staff now and all we need are one or two quality signings and we are all set for the start of the season.
