David Bentley has been on my wish list for a long time now and news this morning suggests that he has rejected a new deal at Blackburn and he wants to move to a bigger team. I have admired Bentley throughout the season and I feel he could do a great job for us down the right wing. The question now is whether Mark Hughes will allow Bentley to leave and if so, for how much?
What I like about Bentley is that if we sign him, we know what we are getting. He has been playing in the Premiership all his life and thus he will not have the excuse many foreigners have of having to take a season or two to adjust to the ‘pace’ of the Premiership. My only fear if we were to sign him is that he could turn into another Craig Bellamy: Great player when he was at Blackburn but the moment he came to Liverpool he was way below average. But I would like to see Rafa take a gamble with Bentley as I think he will not disappoint us. I would certainly prefer to see Quaresma at Liverpool ahead of Bentley but Bentley will do if Quaresma can not come.
