Euro 2008 is around the corner and what a tournament it is going to be. Many great teams will be on display but I am pledging my allegiance to Spain for this tournament. There are four Liverpool players in Spanish team: Reina, Arbeloa, Alonso and Torres. Whether they will all start is another question all together. Alonso and Torres will most likely start. What is really interesting is that neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid have more than Liverpool’s four Spanish players coming from their teams. This goes to show that Liverpool contains the most number of national Spanish team players from one team, thus the team should just be called ‘Spainpool’.

Today, Rafa Benitez said on the official site that he was very proud of the four players representing Spain in Euro 2008. I think most English fans from Liverpool will be supporting Spain this summer since England failed to qualify. It would have been nice to see England in Euro 2008 but that won’t be. The positive from that is at least Steven Gerrard will get a good rest this summer and recharge his batteries and come back ready next season to lead us to the Premiership title.

My major fear though this summer is that Torres could get a serious injury that rules him out for the start of next season. As much as I would like to see Torres do well in Euro 2008 I do not want to him pick up a serious injury.
