Torres fires Spain to Euro glory

Congratulations to Spain for winning Euro 2008. It was about time Spain won a major honour and I am glad that a Liverpool player fired them to victory. Torres has to be the best striker in Europe in my opinion. He may not have had the best of tournaments but he scored the all important goal and what a peach of a goal it was; it showed his strength, pace and killer instinct in front of goal. Is Silva really the answer?

Congratulations to Spain for making it through to the Euro 2008 final by beating Russia 3 - 0. I have just come from watching the game and I must say the first half was terrible. The rain did not help and I guess loosing David Villa to an injury did not help the Spanish. But then in the second half they started to play well and were fully deserving of their win. Looking closely at the game and paying a lot of attention to David Silva, I wondered to myself, is Silva really the kind of player we are looking for to add width to our team? Spainpool in Euro 2008

Euro 2008 is around the corner and what a tournament it is going to be. Many great teams will be on display but I am pledging my allegiance to Spain for this tournament. There are four Liverpool players in Spanish team: Reina, Arbeloa, Alonso and Torres. Whether they will all start is another question all together. Alonso and Torres will most likely start. What is really interesting is that neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid have more than Liverpool’s four Spanish players coming from their teams. This goes to show that Liverpool contains the most number of national Spanish team players from one team, thus the team should just be called ‘Spainpool’. Read the rest of this entry »
