Liverpool are ahead of Italian clubs AC Milan and Inter Milan in the race for Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi, according to Tuttosport in Italy.

It is expected that the Dutch international will leave Ajax at the end of the season and although the Milan clubs are interested in the 20 year old, the Italian newspaper believes the Reds have the upper hand both in terms of finances, but also because El Ghazi would favour a move to the Premier League over a move to Serie A.

El Ghazi, who has Moroccan roots, is being targeted by Jurgen Klopp but the player’s agent is Mino Raiola. Super agent Raiola manages the likes of Mario Balotelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and his good relations with Milan may mean that AC could steal a march on the Reds in negotiations. They attempted to sign El Ghazi in January, Tuttosport reports, but the Dutch winger wished to stay at Ajax until the end of the season.
