Reports today coming out of Spanish source SPORT suggest that Barcelona winger Adama Traore is on his way to Liverpool for a medical before he completes his move.

It is not clear if this deal will be a season long loan or it will be a permanent deal. There have been added rumours that Barcelona have insisted that they will sell Traore to Liverpool if they are given first option on signing Coutinho from the Reds. Another rumour suggests that Barcelona will insert a buy back clause if the winger joins the Reds.

For now there is just way too much speculation about this transfer or loan deal. But what is a interesting to note, if this deal does go through, is that: do Liverpool really need another winger like Traore?

Raheem Sterling has left the club and he was one of our stand out wingers but there is still Jordan Ibe and Lazar Markovic who can fill in on the wing, coupled with a whole host of other wingers from the Liverpool Academy. Another point to consider is how wingers will fit into Brendan Rodgers’ team if he decides to start with a lone striker and Firmino and Coutinho supporting the striker.

There is certainly nothing wrong in having added competition in the squad but I hope the arrival of Traore would not push Ibe down Rodgers’ pecking order. This is set to be Ibe’s break-out season, especially now that Raheem Sterling has left.

Do you think signing Adama Traore is a good idea?
