Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is expected to begin talks with Real Madrid over replacing Carlo Ancelotti this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti’s time at the Santiago Bernabeu is almost over with reports in Spanish press claiming that the club’s board have now called time on his reign as manager, following a number of setbacks this season.

The Italian boss will always be remembered for bringing the La Liga giants their much anticipated 10th Champions League title, but failures to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and retain the European title, have prompted a replacement to be discussed.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp is the number one candidate, whilst Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has also been linked.

And, according to various reports in Spain, the former Liverpool boss is set to begin talks over a deal as soon as the end of this week.

Benitez is expected to leave Napoli this summer and has been linked with a return to Liverpool and to Manchester City.
