Recently extended Liverpool midfielder, Jordan Henderson, is urging teammate and compatriot, Raheem Sterling, to sign an extension with Liverpool after the season.

Sterling has been the talk of the town for weeks now after rejecting Liverpool’s £100,000-per-week offer in early April. Meanwhile, Henderson is fresh off of signing a new five year deal that will have him suiting up in a Reds outfit until 2020. Henderson is the most likely candidate in succeeding Steven Gerrard as the captain of the club.

As a captain should, Henderson is campaigning for the uber talented Sterling to follow his lead by signing an extension.

“I’ve known Raheem for a good few years now. He is a good friend of mine and my team-mate. He has just got to do whatever he thinks is best but, if I was giving him advice, of course I would say: ‘This is Liverpool’. I think this is the best place for him’.”

Sterling’s back and forth spat with the club has caused a bout of uneasiness to take place among the Liverpool faithful. Supporters of the club are worried, to say the least, that Sterling will leave Anfield for the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal, or Chelsea, all of whom have expressed interest in the star winger.

Like the fans, Henderson has also come to the realization that losing Sterling would be a huge blow to the squad, and he is doing his best to put the pressure on Sterling to sign an extension this summer.
