Liverpool are keeping a close eye on contract negotiations between Arsenal and their England international Theo Walcott, according to various reports.

The Reds have been linked with Walcott in the past, and are ready to press ahead with a move if he cannot agree terms on a new deal at the Emirates.

Reports claim Liverpool are looking at Walcott as a replacement for Raheem Sterling, who is yet to agree a new contract at Anfield, and has shelved talks until the end of the season.

It is understood Walcott is not seen as a replacement for Sterling however, with Brendan Rodgers remaining confident the 20-year-old will sign a new deal as he is happy at Liverpool.

26-year-old Walcott has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, and has struggled for regular first team football since returning from a year out with injury in January.

It is understood he will make a decision on his future based on where he will play most regularly.
